In the Mouth of Madness (1995)

Scene: Sam Neill's character wakes up to a chaotic world as his door is gorged open and the other mental asylum residents are shredded to pieces, still dressed in the issued scrubs that he has altered by now with drawings of crucifix, he roams the post-apocalyptic streets, and finally goes into a deserted movie theater playing "In the Mouth of Madness". To make matters even more personal, he is in the starring role playing himself of course; with popcorn in his hands, he laughs hysterically at the screen.
