Hello! I've been a fan of horror movies since I was 5yrs old. I appreciate all genres of horror. I'm not a big fan of remakes. I believe they take away from the original, however, I've learned to look at remakes more like "tributes". I like all the standards of course, Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, etc. There are so many villians and psychopaths to choose from but here are my top 5 favorites (in no particular order) as of now..

1) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
2) Slumber Party Massacre
3) The Descent
4) Night of the Living Dead (1968)
5) The Shining

My favorite horror sub-genre is supernatural thrillers, I am not a very big fan of remakes either. I love horror comedy certain nights and slasher some others. I am looking forward to watching "Prom Night" even though, it's a remake, I like Brittany Snow.

I watched Dead Silence for the first time the other day and I really liked it. Dolls, especially ventriliquist dummies, freak me out. Loved the whole poem/ghost story/possession theme. Haven't seen something like that in a long time. The ending was the best part. My husband and I clapped when the movie ended. Haha We're going to watch Number 23 next.

I know the feeling, the first time I watched "Dead Silence", I thought it was one of the most original movies to come out in decades. It was really intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending was phenomenal. I could not believe that there was no survivor to tell the story. I guess that's one of the scariest qualities in a good horror movie. I am hoping there would be a sequel to it. About "the # 23", I don't want to spoil it for you, all I can say about it, is that it's really suspenseful, the ending will twist your world. You will love it.

Saw Number 23..It was kind of slow starting. It was eerie when he started to relate the book to his life, that part gave me goosebumps. Loved Ned the dog, great actor. Haha. However, I did guess the ending so I wasn't too surprised but I liked the whole "Sin City" way it was filmed when he was reading the book. It was kind of hard for me to take Jim Carrey seriously because I kept waiting for him to break out into some kind of Ace Ventura/Cable Guy comedy personality so it was hard for me to get into his character. I don't think he translated very well into this genre of film but overall, the movie was entertaining. Next up - Capitivity.

Troma movies & Dario Argento - your thoughts? :)

Number 23 was a little slow in the beginning but I did like the ending tremendously, especially when they tried to twist your mind a little with accusing the wife of writing the book. I love Dario Argento who wouldn't? Suspiria, The phantom of the opera, Trauma, Masters of Horror to count only a few, he is a very talented director, producer and screenwriter in the horror genre especially slasher movies. I love suspenseful movies I think those are the scariest because you are always expecting the worst to happen as the background music climaxes. Captivity to my taste was missing something. Well, watch it and tell me what you think.
